Twelve hundred members spending three hundred and forty pounds a year. A four per cent reward, two thirds of it redeemed, four thousand a year to run.
The scheme costs nine thousand eight hundred pounds. That is 5.36% of your gross margin — and to cover it, the scheme has to CAUSE 5.36% more spending than you would have had without it.
Not accompany. Cause.
And here is the part no scheme report will tell you: you cannot tell the difference from any data you have. A purchase somebody would have made anyway looks identical to one the scheme brought in. That is not a limitation of this page, it is a limitation of the situation, and no amount of reporting gets round it.
Nor does the comparison everybody reaches for. Members spend more than non-members in almost every scheme ever run, and it proves nothing: the people who join are the people who were already spending most. That is why they bothered. Comparing the two groups measures who joins, not what the scheme did.
So the page computes what the scheme costs, exactly, and states what it would have to cause as a bar to clear rather than a result to report. That is the honest shape of this question and it is a more useful one than a figure nobody can defend.
It also shows the rewards nobody ever claims — because a scheme that is affordable only because most people forget is a scheme whose cost rises the moment it starts working properly.
Rewards come out of margin, not revenue, which is the figure worth quoting and almost never the one that is.
Save as many versions as you like and put any two side by side, figure against figure, with the better one on each line marked and the difference in its own column. That screen is the one that decides things, and it is the part a free calculator cannot do at all. What changing the reward rate does is the comparison this exists for.
One HTML file. No account, no subscription, no internet needed. Opens on Windows, Mac and Android; the readme explains the extra step on iPhone and iPad, where Apple blocks JavaScript in downloaded files and every tool of this kind is affected.
Everything lives in your browser on your device. Nothing is uploaded, which is why it works offline and why nobody else can see your figures — and it also means clearing your browsing data deletes it. The tool does not pretend otherwise: the header shows how long since your last export at all times, turns amber after three days and red after seven, and export is one click that produces a plain file you keep.
