Somebody always asks for ten per cent off. The reason it is so easy to say yes is that ten per cent sounds like ten per cent, and it is not: your costs do not move, so the whole of the discount comes out of the profit.
This builds the quote line by line with what each line costs you beside what you charge, and then answers the discount question in the terms that matter. On a job at a thirty per cent margin, ten per cent off removes a third of the profit and you would need one and a half of those bookings at the new price to earn what one earns now. That is a sentence to have ready before the phone rings.
And when the discount is bigger than the margin, no volume fixes it at all — the tool says so rather than printing an enormous number of bookings as though it were a plan.
It runs the other direction too. With no discount entered, it tells you how much of your work you could afford to lose if you put the price up ten per cent instead. On most quotes that figure surprises people considerably more than the discount one.
The payment schedule has to add up. Stages that come to less than the quote leave money nobody has been asked for, which is the sort of thing that surfaces a week after the event, and the page flags it rather than quietly losing it.
Save as many versions as you like and put any two side by side, figure against figure, with the better one on each line marked and the difference in its own column. That screen is the one that decides things, and it is the part a free calculator cannot do at all.
It does not send the quote, take the deposit or hold the date. It is the page you work the numbers out on before you write the email — and what makes a booking fee stick is what your terms say, not what this calculates.
One HTML file. No account, no subscription, no internet needed. Opens on Windows, Mac and Android; the readme explains the extra step on iPhone and iPad, where Apple blocks JavaScript in downloaded files and every tool of this kind is affected.
Everything lives in your browser on your device. Nothing is uploaded, which is why it works offline and why nobody else can see your figures — and it also means clearing your browsing data deletes it. The tool does not pretend otherwise: the header shows how long since your last export at all times, turns amber after three days and red after seven, and export is one click that produces a plain file you keep.
