Two things decide whether a flooring job pays, and you can see neither of them when you quote. What is under the existing floor, and how much material the pattern is going to waste.

This prices both as decisions rather than surprises. A subfloor preparation allowance, because levelling compound and ply are common and finding out on the morning is not a plan. A waste percentage you set deliberately, because a pattern match or a diagonal lay costs far more than an offcut allowance. Uplift and disposal of the old floor as its own line, since adhesive-bonded vinyl is a completely different job from carpet.

And the furniture. Somebody has to move it, and if that somebody is you it is billable time. Putting it in the quote settles the argument before the day rather than on it.

Underneath is the costing every trade skips: labour at its burdened cost, travel at what the van really costs, and overhead recovered properly rather than hoped for. The tool warns when overhead is being charged twice, when a wage is being used as a cost, and when margin and markup have been confused.
