Landscaping Job Calculator

Landscaping has two costs that almost never make it into a quote, and both of them are heavy. What you dig out has to go somewhere, and what you plant has to survive long enough to stop being your problem.

This prices both. Spoil removal as its own line, because soil is charged by weight and a skip of it costs several times what people expect. Establishment visits, because if your guarantee says the planting will take then the watering and checking through the first season is work you have already promised and should already have charged for.

Plus the rest of what a project actually contains: plants and turf kept separate from soil and aggregate, since the wastage and the guarantee are entirely different; machine hire with operator, delivery and collection, where half-day hire is rarely half the price; and the hours, costed at what labour really costs rather than at the wage.

It also argues with you, which is the part a calculator does not do. No overhead being recovered, a wage used as a cost, markup entered where margin was meant, or a margin so thin that one wet week turns the project into a loss: each one is named with what it costs.

Two printouts, deliberately separate: a customer quote carrying the price and the scope, and an internal costing carrying everything else.
