The problem with an SEO audit is almost never that it missed something. It is that it produced forty findings, all of them true, in no particular order — and a list of forty true things is not a plan, which is why most audits are read once and acted on never.

This one weights every check and then puts the failures in the order worth doing them: what each is worth against what it costs to fix. The quick wins — worth a lot, cost little — are separated out, because those are what turn an audit into something that actually gets done on a Tuesday afternoon.

Twenty-eight checks across five areas: what stops a page being indexed at all, what the page itself says, whether the content answers a question somebody types, the local signals, and whether anybody else links to you. Each area is scored on its own, so a site with excellent technical work and nothing worth reading is told that rather than given an average.

It is careful about one thing that most scored checklists get wrong. A blank check is left OUT of the score rather than counted as a failure, so a half-finished audit cannot make a working site look broken. The other side of that is a refusal: until at least twenty-three of the twenty-eight are answered, it shows no score at all. A score from nine answers is a number somebody will quote.

The weights and the effort figures are my judgement, they are printed on the page rather than hidden inside a number, and you can disagree with them. What is not judgement is the ordering they produce.

Save as many versions as you like and put any two side by side, figure against figure, with the better one on each line marked and the difference in its own column. That screen is the one that decides things, and it is the part a free calculator cannot do at all. Run it, do the top few, run it again in a month.

It cannot crawl your site, check your rankings or read your analytics, and it does not pretend to. You answer what you can see; it does the weighting, the scoring and the ordering.

Nothing is uploaded, which is why it works offline and why nobody else can see your figures — and it also means clearing your browsing data deletes it. The tool does not pretend otherwise: the header shows how long since your last export at all times, turns amber after three days and red after seven, and export is one click that produces a plain file you keep.
