The trouble with a page audit is rarely that it missed something. It is that it produced twenty-eight findings in no particular order, and a list of twenty-eight true things is not a plan.

This weights every check and then puts the failures in the order worth doing them: what each is worth against what it costs to fix. The quick wins are separated out, because those are what turn an audit into something that gets done rather than filed.

Twenty-eight checks in six groups, in the order a reader meets them: whether a stranger can say what this is in five seconds, how many decisions the page asks for, whether the money is findable, whether anything on the page earns trust, what the form asks for, and whether the thing can be read at all.

Five of the checks are about NOT pressuring people — nothing counting down, nothing pre-ticked, nothing appearing at the last step that was not mentioned earlier. That is a position rather than an oversight, and it is the same one the rest of this catalogue takes.

One page at a time, on purpose. A site audit that averages ten pages tells you about none of them, and the page you should run it on first is the one people actually land on.

It is careful in the same way the SEO audit is: a blank check is left out of the score rather than counted as a failure, and until most of them are answered no score is shown at all. A score from a third of the questions is a number that gets repeated.

Save as many versions as you like and put any two side by side, figure against figure, with the better one on each line marked and the difference in its own column. That screen is the one that decides things, and it is the part a free calculator cannot do at all. Run it, fix the top few, run it again.
