Most rate cards are built on the follower count, which is the one number a brand is not buying. On a typical account a feed post reaches well under a third of the followers, and that is normal — it is only a problem if the price was built on the bigger figure, because then every line on the card is a promise the account cannot keep.

This builds each rate from the reach you take out of your own insights, and puts your engagement rate at the top where it belongs. That figure is the argument for a smaller account: twenty thousand followers responding at six per cent delivers more people who care than a hundred thousand at half a per cent, and the brands worth working with know it.

It also fixes the error that runs through nearly every rate card in both directions at once. A post is priced on the people it reaches. Content the brand posts on their own channels is priced on what it costs you to make plus a licence — they are not buying your audience at all, so the follower count does not touch it. Conflating the two badly underprices a large creator’s content work and wildly overprices a small one’s.

Save as many versions as you like and put any two side by side, figure against figure, with the better one on each line marked and the difference in its own column. That screen is the one that decides things, and it is the part a free calculator cannot do at all.

It has no data on what brands in your category pay and will not invent a CPM. That figure is yours, from deals you have actually done. What the tool does is build a consistent card on top of it and keep the two pricing bases apart.

Everything lives in your browser on your device. Nothing is uploaded, which is why it works offline and why nobody else can see your figures — and it also means clearing your browsing data deletes it. The tool does not pretend otherwise: the header shows how long since your last export at all times, turns amber after three days and red after seven, and export is one click that produces a plain file you keep.
