About this product

More small businesses are closed by the timing of money than by the amount of it. A profitable year with a tax bill in the wrong week is a real way to fail, and a bank balance cannot show you it coming.

This gives you thirteen weeks, week by week, with the balance running down the side and the one-offs sitting in the week they actually land. The headline is the week it goes under, named as a week rather than left in a table for you to find.

Thirteen weeks is deliberate. It is far enough out that something can still be done — an invoice chased, a payment moved, a conversation had — and near enough that the figures are ones you actually know.

It is careful about three things. A business that does not run out is told so plainly rather than shown a blank. A business with a positive week and a big bill is told the problem is timing, not trading, which is the better kind to have. And a business surviving on the money already in the bank is not congratulated: if the ordinary week is negative, the page says so and points out that the forecast ending at thirteen weeks is not the same as the problem ending there.

Save as many versions as you like and put any two side by side, figure against figure, with the better one on each line marked and the difference in its own column. That screen is the one that decides things, and it is the part a free calculator cannot do at all. The version worth saving second is the pessimistic one: your biggest customer three weeks late.

It is a forecast of the figures you typed and nothing more. It cannot see your bank, does not know who pays late and will not chase anybody. Its value is being quick enough to run again with a worse assumption, which is the version worth looking at.

One HTML file. No account, no subscription, no internet needed. Opens on Windows, Mac and Android; the readme explains the extra step on iPhone and iPad, where Apple blocks JavaScript in downloaded files and every tool of this kind is affected.

Everything lives in your browser on your device. Nothing is uploaded, which is why it works offline and why nobody else can see your figures — and it also means clearing your browsing data deletes it. The tool does not pretend otherwise: the header shows how long since your last export at all times, turns amber after three days and red after seven, and export is one click that produces a plain file you keep.
